Nanda Devi Trek

Nanda Devi Sanctuary Trek is the part of Chamoli Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The spectacular panoramas of himalaya encircling the National Park are Trishul (7120 meter), Dunagiri (7066 meter), Nanda Devi (7817 meter), Nanda Devi East (7430 meter), Bethartoli (6352 meter). The beautiful surroundings with abundant flora and fauna like Brahma-Kamal and Bharal (blue mountain goat) make this a sanctuary of nature.

Nanda Devi National Park was banned for trekkers in 1982 to protect its biographical image. The Nanda Devi Sanctuary Trek, which has been declared a world heritage site, has been partially opened recently for restricted number of tourist.

Sir Edmund Hillary has described in his autobiography that the Nanda Devi Sanctuary is God gifted wilderness India's training ground for adventure. Dr. T. Longstaff, renowned mountaineer, naturalist and trekker, has described Garhwal as The Most Beautiful Land in the Himalaya of the Asian Sub-continent.

How to reach

New Delhi to Rishikesh (240 km) and Rishikesh to Joshimath (253 km) road drive, then 25 km to the road head at Lata village where the trek begins.

Best Time to Visit

The park will remain open for a period of six months from 1st May and close on 31st October.
